Re: Turnkey Molds

See Mold Making Technology January 2005 issue page 42 for a great article about Ready-To-Go Molds, written by the Chairman/ owner of RJG Rod Groleau.

RJG has developed a program that Certifies Mold Builders and Tryout Shops. The goal of the certification is to prevent bad part designs and bad molds from getting into production by challenging both designs and molds early in systematic ways so that weaknesses can be quickly defined and corrected before they become costly problems for you and your customers.

These companies have an in depth understanding of plastic processing and how it relates to building a quality mold. This will include a firm understanding of the science of Systemic DECOUPLED MOLDINGSM and how these concepts make molding and tryouts more straightforward and less problematic. Producing what I have coined a Ready-To-Go mold.

A Ready-To-Go Mold can be defined as challenging the design of the mold early, correctly selecting and installing cavity pressure sensors, performing rigorous mold tryouts for validations /PPAP and finally, including a robust process set-up before the mold leaves the tryout. Once you receive the mold it can be placed in any appropriate machine, by the least qualified process tech and who can start the mold into production practically on cycle, making the first shot into production a good part.

I will send you information including our list of RJG Certified Mold Builders and Tryout shops w/ their accomplishments.
