Re: "When[...]"

You can't be a Christian, Christianity teaches people to accept the entire new testament you cannot have a pick-and-choose approach. God also teaches that you can't be on the fence between being a Christian or not; You either are a Christian or you aren't.

it focuses mainly on finding life's lessons for yourself through your own perception

Of course, because Christianity disregards life lessons... -_-
Read A Bible you lazy *&^%!

Re: "When[...]"

I've studied many The Holy Bible and read it many times, I'm not saying I'm a Christian, and how am I supposed to know that what is in The Holy Bible wasn't inserted by man? I don't, so I can pick and chose what I want, after all, they're my beliefs.

Re: "When[...]"

The concept of faith is one lost on you, and most people these days...

Of course the passages were inserted by men, where do you think the gospels came from? God? It's unbelievable how many people I actually argue with over who wrote the bible, it wasn't God.
It was men, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Who did you think wrote the Bible?

But, that's the thing, they are your beliefs. Like I have said countless times, much to the annoyance of Hexi and the gang, is that The Bible is good for being a derivative for peoples moral guidelines. In other words, read the bible, by all mean choose the passages you agree with or like and attempt to live by them at least use them as a sort of guideline.
For example, The Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." is arguably the most essential basis for the modern concept of Human Rights.

Re: "When[...]"

You know you've only specified my belief system. Very well then, explain to me this, "Faith"(yeah yeah I know what it is and have a great deal of it, I just want clarification).

Re: "When[...]"

Well, it's the confident belief/trust in the truth, trustworthiness or what I perceive as truth.

Re: "When[...]"

Just as I thought. Now why would you say that faith is lost on me?

Re: "When[...]"

I have set aside all the illogical parts of these religions

The fact you have no faith that the Bible is completely logical. Quote me the "illogical" passages of the Bible?

It's also lost on you because one of the defining characteristics of Psyhcopathy is mistrust in people in general...

Re: "When[...]"

All the illogical parts of religion, not the bible. I'm not going to perform an exorcism, that would not be logical.

Re: "When[...]"

Right...

I don't believe in Exorcisms either, so I understand what you mean.

Re: "When[...]"

You really bit my head off back there...

Re: "When[...]"

Don't say you wouldn't do the same to me... :)

Who did you think wrote the bible?

Re: "When[...]"

A collection of men who thought they had what it takes to undertake the task and do it right, whether they did so, is debatable.

Re: "When[...]"

How am I supposed to know that what is in The Holy Bible wasn't inserted by man?

Why did you ask that knowing that what's in the holy bible was inserted by man?

Re: "When[...]"

I THOUGHT that some words were taken straight from the holy man and left unchanged.

Re: "When[...]"

Most of them are, but not all of them.

Question - Do you ever get grosses out when you hear gruesome stories etc?

Re: "When[...]"

No, if it's something along the lines of a massacre, I usually study them out of curiosity. For gruesome accidents, I study the physics behind it.

Re: "When[...]"

Interesting...

What about films? Ever cry at films?
And where you ever professionaly deiagnosed with psychopathy...?

Re: "When[...]"

Yeah, especially Tom Hanks movies, and the Metal Gear series(video game). And no, I have never been diagnosed with any mental illness.

Re: "When[...]"

Self-Diagnosis then?

I cry at Tom Hanks movies too, they're like torture...

Re: "When[...]"

I never said I was a psychopath.

Re: "When[...]"

I know, I thought you were DragonTongue....

Anyway... What do you think about the Bible, or the Qu'ran? Bull****?

Re: "When[...]"

Well it's not as you say it is, it may be just another one of a handful of people's attempt at peace and other people deciding to take advantage of this attempt.

Re: "When[...]"

That's a guess, right?

If it is as you say it is, it's still a good thing, as it has brought peace, right?
Moop

Re: "When[...]"

We can not tell for certain. So uh, what's "Moop""

Re: "When[...]"

I'm not too sure, I just thought I would put that word in there somewhere... I am an idiot.

What do you think about psychopaths? In general?

Re: "When[...]"

They are an amusing niche of my "Study". But as people and not subjects, they sure are fun to watch hunt their prey as well as spend time with.

Re: "When[...]"

The Catalyst
When did I change my religion? Did I change my religion? Or did I make my own?

Since the age of five I have believed in God, but from then to now, I have been hackin' and whackin' and smackin' away at the belief systems under the concept of God(Christianity, Catholicism and what-have-you). I have set aside all the illogical parts of these religions(NOT A PARADOX). Parts have been added as well, it focuses mainly on finding life's lessons for yourself through your own perception and not some book.

Funny, i told my mother that religion is stupid and made no sense at that age (5). She was so proud of me, coming from an orthodox family herself. I think it spun from my grandfathers funeral, where i asked the priest "who made god, and why should i care?" and got no viable answer. Don't get me wrong though, i enjoy religious people immensly, it's so easy to make them go "i can't hear you! lalalalala!" or use circular logic to justify it.

Re: "When[...]"

Good for you.
I got that alot when I was very small, before I was a Christian. I would ask someone a religious question and I would get a ton of riddles and double meaning crap.
And so often when I would ask how people can be sure that the Bible is 100% real, I would get the response - "Because it is" and that is the response I would always get.

If you actually have any questions on religion, your welcome to ask, I will try and answer them to the best of my ability.

Re: "When[...]"

Would you be shocked if i said "no"? Religion is what it is and people need to get over it.

Re: "When[...]"

Not really. That kind of response was basically what I expected from you, it's fine.
Get over it? In what way do you mean that?

Re: "When[...]"

Toby

Exactly as i said it, though it wasn't direceted at you specifically. It's your right, as an individual mind, to believe what you want. I don't care what you believe in and most certainly you don't care that i don't care. It's fine to discuss anything and everything, it's how new ideas are born but people get way, way too emotional over something as subjective as religion. Those that do, need to get over it and accept that there is no "right" view of god, the tooth fairy or the magical, invisible teapot that orbits the moon.

Re: "When[...]"

I care that you don't care. I don't disregard the fact you don't care.

If you told be right now you had converted to Islam, of course I would care, how callous do you think I am?

I think Whitewolf or someone said "It doesn't matter anyway, you don't care about psychopaths...."
WTF? Yes I do..... What reason would I have for not caring?

Re: "When[...]"

Toby
I care that you don't care. I don't disregard the fact you don't care.

See, this is another peculiar thing. For me, things that don't affect me personally mean absolutely nothing. I can discuss them but on a personal level, i don't care, at all. If... let's say the continent of Africa vanished i would talk about it with people, but i wouldn't lose my sleep or anything. :)

Re: "When[...]"

let's say the continent of Africa vanished

Yeah, but no-one really likes Africa... :)
No, I'm joking.
If right now on the news it said "Africa has vanished" I wouldn't lose sleep either, really...
But If I went to Africa and saw the state the people were in, then, I would be emotional.

You don't affect me personally, but I still care. I still treat you the same as I would any other person.
