My upbringing... i would say pretty normal, i suppose. My childhood was pretty abnormal though, hehe.

That was hard to escape. Eventually... it just fades away with your advancement. It takes different experiences to grow. You really start to understand that even though they are less than us... some of them are ours and we should build them up. From time to time the stand alone complex will return but never that bad. Without this "protection" they would simply go insane. They are intraspecies predators, incapable by definition of feeling the one set of emotions that defines one Human.

If you could choose would you rather be you, not going anywhere in life and standing still, or emotional, being capable of Joy. All I can tell you is it is nothing like you think it is, imagine the best feeling you've ever had, now times that by 66 Billion, that no where near close to an emotion they experience DAILY.

There is something that i would like to ask though. What is wrong with just saying "i don't know where we came from, nor do i care where we are going. Rich people are not a species. It depends on the person, of course they could feel empathy for the poor its just the arrogant ****ers that don't help.
Empathy isn't being able to understand as much as it being able to feel, actually feel, how other feel. To put yourself in their place emotionally.

Well, That seemingly simple question is actually very hard to answer. :-)
That's like me saying: "Hey, I've never eaten an orange... What does it taste like?" You wouldn't be able to answer.
It feels.... Sad?
I feel as I would feel if the same happened to me I suppose. It would be easier to answer if I felt empathy to you in person.
