Re: Psychopath?

sorry for the delay. i'm moving to another apartment, when lo and behold, my boyfriend, my mom, and myself came down with the 'flu. And then my fish died.
Plus, the question you're asking is a very difficult one to answer, and it's one that I am working on currently. Until then, I suggest the following:

i) stop reading about psychopaths/antisocial personality disorders, if not just for a while. Most of the stuff out there isn't very good, and there seems to be an entire load of (what I presume are) OCD individuals going on about how 'psychopathic' they are.

ii) remember: psychopaths do not worry. psychopaths do not worry about whether or not they are psychopaths. in fact, they like being psychopaths.

iii) don't attempt to self-diagnose. you're neurotic, and all attempts at self-diagnosis are likely to spike your OCD. read some of the forum posts on stuckinadoorway.org if you want to know that you are not alone in thinking that you are a psychopath.

Right off the bat, I guess that you WANT to be a psychopath. You want to be freed from your OCD anxiety and guilt. You want to want to kill someone, but your conscience won't even let you express those desires without getting on your case about becoming a psychopath.

"Meaningful" -> relating to truths about the world. So if I say 'blibba blabba jabba jee' - that isn't meaningful to you, because in our language, those sounds do not refer to anything. If I say 'stoplights at intersections have helped to steadily decrease traffic fatalities since the early 1940s', then I have said something meaningful. Is that sentence true? I don't know, but I would presume some accuracy.

The reason why I say to find osmething meaningful to do, is that psychopaths do not have meaning in their lives. They rationalize so much that their entire realities are distorted. They can sell themselves any lie, so the truth does not mean much to them anymore.

Now, I have to go because this post is starting to get a little OCD even for my taste and I should put these energies to better use.

Re: Psychopath?

I'm not OCD. Where did that come from? Also I don't have any desire to kill people. You must be confusing me with someone else or reading into things. Men and women do not percieve information in the same way. We work off different wave lengths.

A psychopaths life is not without meaning. Also we are not distorted from reality. Well... I'm not. Distortion is caused by emotional instability IMO. You may have an ego but I know what I am.

I saw someone ranting about how they hate the law and why. I've had that same rant with others. So for a moment I thought it would be good to see how others like me percieved the world. Maybe I might learn something. I don't care what people say about psychopaths. They are handicapped by their weak conscience minds and stupid fears.

Why are you telling me about your fish? You know I don't care. See it's moments like that that make life ocward for me. Life is a serie of choices and I made choices in my reply to you. People are toys.

Re: Psychopath?

This is an amusing exchange. Wish people posted here more frequently.

Whitewolf, i don't really see what is there to be gained from talking to others with APD about their world view. Apart from personality quirks, i would imagine our world view is pretty much the same. When you take out morals and emotions, logic and personal preference remains.

Re: Psychopath?

I feel sorry for Psychopaths, even with their lack of conscience, remorse, you can't help but have empathy and sympathy for them however unlikely it is they'll return the emotions.
The fact many of them could kill people and not feel anything frightens me but If they actually did all go out and kill people I assume many people would be left dead, bearing in mind that an estimated 1% of people on the earth today are Psychopaths. And they aren't so something stops/restrains them, an attempt to be good perhaps. But what really is sad is that that they can never experience, truly, the joys of Empathy, Sympathy, Love, Guilt, Shame, Remorse, compassion. Some of them might not be too wonderful but where would we be without them, like animals?
But I wonder why they can't realise what their doing is bad and stop or just be good, they aren't retarded, most of them intelligent I hear.

Re: Psychopath?

Cool but I don't get the empathy part.

Re: Psychopath?

Yeh reading through Empathy doesn't make much sense, Sympathy makes more sense. :)

Re: Psychopath?

Do people really think that psychopathy equates to homicidal or violent tendencies?

Also, you should feel sympathy for people like us. That way we can cut your throat more than once, figuratively speaking.

Re: Psychopath?

I've been thinking about this violence issue people seem to dwell on.

Here's what I think.

They think we are like them. So they imagine a time when they were emotionally mad and wanted to kill someone. Then they conclude that without a conscience they would kill and therefore we must be just as vunerable to such an emotional action.

So... they are inherintly evil. If you think about it they do openly admit that just as I admit I lack proper punctuation and spelling. Apathy.

I am disgusted by their very existance. Stupid monkeys... They die like insects. Only in the end do they understand. Even as allies they will fear you. All because you don't bleed with them. They crumble under emotional bridges and then think you heartless and somehow untrustworthy all because what destroys them can never harm you.. They fear virtue because none of them have it. This virtue percieved as evil. Everything they lack comprehension of is evil to their primitive minds.

Oh happy Easter. I don't understand the basket with eggs in it guarded by the bunny rabbit. Is that the mix of Jesus and pageon traditions? Why are Christians always eating ham on Easter. Jesus hated pigs! LOL

Re: Psychopath?

I know Psychopaths dont have violent, homicidal tendencies I was just saying that thex COULD kill someone and feel no emotion. And I would like to say that you really don't understand Emotions if you think they're a drawback. If I lost my strong feelings of love, empathy, fear, anxiety and guilt I would hang myself ASAP. They are what makes life full and they keep us Empaths in social harmony. If I was a Psychopath I would just make myself a goal to do 50 things a week to make the world a better place.

I'm pretty sure there is no empathy, guilt, fear or anxiety in Heaven. Apparently God didn't see those emotions as anything but a drawback. So killing yourself probably wouldn't produce a desired outcome. Have you thought about that? Do you think God has a conscience because I don't. I'm just playing with you. :-)

Empaths? Well that wouldn't help you with me at all.

Re: Psychopath?

James, you're just projecting your own views unto others and expect everyone to feel and think like you do. You would make the world a better place if you were a psychopath? That's a laughable sentiment. Other people are things to me. Would you cry if some random doll get crushed under something? No, you wouldn't.

You lack perspective and understanding, which is understandable i guess based on some of the posts here on this forum.

Re: Psychopath?

I'm not projecting my views onto anyone else, and If you feel I did then feel free to rage all you want (seriously).
And if I woke up tommorow as psychopath I would try to do good deeds and I would not hang myself as I would hopefully still realise that even If I wanted to it would hurt my family, friends.
And Whitewolf, I think God does have a conscience as we do, "Lets us make man in our image", that's basically saying god made us like him so I will assume he has a conscience, If not then we are all screwed :)
Also.... It depends what type of doll....... :-) Jokes.

Re: Psychopath?

I made a puppet that looks like me. It's made in my image. He didn't say he made a clone. I... I can't stand you. Never talk to me again.

Re: Psychopath?

"True conscience is a gift from God"
"I have lived in conscience before God" (Acts 23:1 KJV)
Thats not what I meant, I was saying that God made is in his image and since god doesn't look like humans, there has to be something similar, emotions, conscience.
I know just as much about the true God as you, who's to say? Maybe God, is a black woman from korea?
:)

Re: Psychopath?

Sorry to butt in here but, on what basis do you have for him lacking perspective and understanding?
There are psychopaths who lead good lives and dont succumb to pathetic urges or temptations.

Re: Psychopath?

Stop trying to bait me with those awful one liners.

Re: Psychopath?

Don't be so easy to bait then.
