Dear Doctor Robert,

My son is a sociopath. My husband and I adopted his son, our grandson. Our grandson's mother was diagnosed as having bipolar disorder. Are these disorders genetic? We have had our adopted son from birth and he has had no contact with his birth parents. He is now 6 years old and is a wonderful, kind sweet child. How predisposed is he to develop on of these personality disorders? We have seen no evidence thus far of either of these disorders.
