My great uncle recieved a farming job in America abut grew ill. My great grandpa came over instead and it was told that he rode his bike to the boat and never looked back. Eventually his brother and his parents came over years later. I am still trying to gather more concrete information, but my grandpa passed away before I was old enough to ask him about his dad's stories about coming to America. Right now, all of my relatives (the Vander Wielens) live in/near Appleton Wisconsin.

Wopka Plantinga is my greatgreat grandmothers(Rinska Plantinga) nephew. I have to say finding cousins is very exciting. My greatgrandmother is Jacoba Wierda, who went by Cora when she moved to the states, and married Gerrit Hiemstra and lived in Ashton SD. Most of Cora's siblings never made it out of Holland before WWII. I do have a mystery I'm trying to solve. My grandmother Stella Hiemstra who passed just this last April told me a month or so before her passing that we had a cousin who also emigrated to Ashton SD. His name is Carl Hoogerhuis. We found his gravestone in the same cemetery as Rinske, and Gerrit, and Cora. The mystery is I can't connecting him with our family. Any suggestions? Maybe Carl was something different? I see no Hoogerhuis in your surnames but that doesn't seem
Americanized to me. Looking forward to hearing from you. We have another connection. I see that your family ran a Caterpillar dealership. My company Lawson Software has become their main software provider. The personal stuff is more fun, but I was just amazed.
