I know how to make a drop down nav menu with css and html that only works in firefox and google chrome but how would i make one that would work in internet explorer? i know it has something to do with javascript but thats all i know how would i do this?

Try looking at the dynamic drive site. No point in re-inventing the wheel, and looking at their code will help you learn how it's done.
