password protecting webpages

I'm trying to find a way to protect certain webpages from being seen by people that aren't members of our group. I signed up for bravenet password protection and I can enter the code onto my site and the box appears but it isn't blocking out the info on the page you can just view the sign in box on the page. HELP!
Sincerely, Pamela

Re: password protecting webpages

To protect a page you have to put the sign in box somewhere else. The user only goes to the protected page AFTER they have signed in.

Bravenet Password Gate is a joke, you need to use PHP coding to protect pages properly.

Hello
Thanks for replying I appreciate your time and help. Do you have a php code or a website that I could go to?
Sincerely, Pamela

Re: password protecting webpages

A bit late, but a tip to others:-

Set up another website (you can host up to 10 if you have pro)

Redirect to this one from your password settings

It's good because the program also blocks the actual URL on this second 'secret' site
(so nobody can cut and paste for later to bypass the log in page...)
