Re: I used Word to design my site, now have problems

Word is a word processor. Trying to use it for another purpose altogether will usually result in problems. If you must use a Microsoft product, try Notepad. Or even Frontpage.

Re: I used Word to design my site, now have problems

Thanks. I have used it for so many pages in the past that I do like to use it. It is just that I added that side frame for a menu...that is why it didn't work.

I am still looking for someone to help me make this work, if possible.

Blessings, Barb

Re: Re: I used Word to design my site, now have problems

The "save as html" option in Word is designed to create a web version of a printed document while preserving the print format. This results in code which is very difficult to untangle if you have problems.

If you must create a framed layout (there are lots of reasons why this is a bad idea) then you will need to create a third page to link the other two together. Word is not designed to do this and you will need to use Notepad and hand code the html.

Re: I used Word to design my site, now have problems

Okay thanks everyone,

I am not capable of all that..I will have to hire someone to do it for me.

Thanks, and blessings. Barb

Re: I used Word to design my site, now have problems

Peter...I forgot to thank you properly for explaining the Word Document being saved as html. I guess because I have tried to teach all this to myself, that when I came across the words..save as html or save as webpage..I just assumed I could build a whole webpage with it. I was able to do that for a simple page though..it was nice and easy.

Actually this really did help me..so again thanks for that.

Also you said not recommending the frame...I used the frame to make a side menu. I really like the side menu...and want to use that. What would you suggest for a side menu ?

I don't think I am capable of doing this anyway, but would like your thoughts just in case I get stubborn and decide to take the time to try it...hahahaa

Thanks and blessings, Barb
