Re: password prtection

LOL, I finally figured out the problem with the password and login code. I knew it was something simple there, but now I am having a problem getting the protected page to show up after logging in. Can anyone help me on this new problem. After logging in, the page shows a 404 page not found type error.I'm feeling really 'dumb blonde-ish' right now.

Re: Re: password prtection

try checking that the url is correct: same spelling, uppercase/lowercase the same, correct extension, etc. Also check that the filetype of the page is supported by whoever is hosting the site.

Hope this helped

Re: password prtection

I want to password protect my Bravenet.com guestbook. I know I have to copy/paste the code but HOW DO I OPEN THE GUESTBOOK FILE ON AN EDITOR. How do I locate the file? The file is not on my personal website; it's on Bravenet.com

Please help!

Re: Re: password prtection

First of all, you must go to the text editor and create a new file. The file name can be whatever you want it to be. End it with

Now, after you've done so, get the guestbook code and copy it onto the page that I just told you to create. Do it with text editor. [works better].

Then, to get password protect, upload that password protect code to the same page. There you have it. Your own guestbook service. You might want to inform users that they cant register with password protect. You might want to set up and email form and assign a password to them on you own. Have them enter desired username, etc. and there you go. email me if you have any questions at neocdshlp@gmail.com
