The background's not working............ :(

As the title states......

The picture i want to use as a background is

http://alchemisthq.bravehost.com/pictures/ingate.jpg

But the normal tags arent working for some reason.........

Could someone please help and thanks in advance!

Re: The background's not working............ :(

You can add background by adding background="pictures/ingate.jpg" to your body tag.

As for the "normal" tags:

/span>

you had better delete them. Tags with only one quote can mess up quite a bit of the following code.

Re: The background's not working............ :(

Checked your site -- you forgot to give us the URL but I guessed it from the URL you gave for the image -- but I couldn't find a page on that site ( http://alchemisthq.bravehost.com/ ) that had any code for a background image.

The old-fashioned way is to code it in the body tag.

The new-fangled technique is to use CSS.

What do you have in mind? On what page?

Re: The background's not working............ :(

Yeah sorry about that, i hadnt put a link to that yet, since the page was still being made, but the link is up now, its at the bottom of the homepage Open the gate, its also this link http://alchemisthq.bravenet.com/thegate.html(I think its that, i'm not sure because im at school and cant check for sure now, shhh dont tell anyone XD)

I think i came to the conclusion based on other threads with this question that background images arent allowed in the free version because ad scripts mess them up? We dont plan to pay until most of the site is done lol.

Am i wrong? Is there another way?
If not maybe it was for the best because text would be really hard to read through that background lol, unless i photoshopped it transparent...

Are bg images allowed in free?

Thanks.

Re: The background's not working............ :(

Close enough. Bravehost really, but the mistake is common enough for us to guess. Listen, free has nothing to do with it. There is a problem if you use Wizard, but there are hundreds of free editors that will let you choose your own background on a free site.

There are even people who are paying to use the Wizard. (Hey, business idea for the people who think they can get rich quick online. Check all the messages to see who is paying for a domain and using Wizard. They will probably buy anything.

The code I gave you should work, unless you prefer more modern methods. But you are right. It is not a very good background. Not for text. And a background image ought to be somewhere around 2 kilobytes, not 26.
