Re: Document Type

I was trying to validate my site through W3C Markup Validation service.
Now it says my document is not Valid HTML 4.01 Transitional!
There are a lot of problems with the hosting minibar which is no doubt the advertising on my free site. I have noticed when I view source from IE there have been several bars added, which do not show up in my html on my index file, and I can't seem to get rid of them.
I suspect the incorrect document type is causing problems, also when I try to publish the page it is coming up with errors.
Also how do I know what type of document to change it to? I am thinking it is DHTML, but how do I list this as DOC type!
All right in reading I see DHTML is not a W3C standard, so that is a problem. LOL.
Can anyone shed some light on this? I am NOT using the website wizards, yet I have a lot to learn.
Hoping somone can help me sort this out.
I guess My question is what DOC type do I put down?

Re: Re: Document Type

If you have a free Bravenet site, it will not validate.

Re: Re: Document Type

Ah so that's it! Thanks Sherlock.
I will get a paid one soon I think.
I am getting sick of those ads anyway.
So shall I just keep the doc as it is?

Re: Re: Document Type

That makes sense, as long as your scripts work OK on the browsers you have checked.

Re: Re: Re: Document Type

You can use the W3C file validator to validate the copy of the page from your computer that doesn't have the ad code in it. That way you can ensure that the only validation errors are those caused by the addition of the ad.
