Your web site has a file structure that isn't any different than your PC. It is common for people to create folders to keep their files in order. A subfolder is simply a folder in a folder. On web sites, it is common to create a folder named "images" to store all of their GIFs and JPGs. This keeps their site neat, and doesn't mix their images with their HTML files.
