HTML and trouble

I just started building a new website and I have this thing called site pal that I want to put into my website, but the instructions are to copy and paste a code onto the and of the HTML reference thing. When I try to do it, it doesn't let me paste it. It doesn't let you type anything in it either. What do I do?
