FTP is the protocol that you use to copy files - File Transfer protocol - just as HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) is the protocol used to copy web pages. There are lots of programs available that provide FTP and all you need do is specify the location and login details for your site to be able to use any of them to upload your pages. Most hosts also provide a web facility to upload files as well if you are logged into your account. For more info visit the Comms Software section of my site.
