I need to establish an asian moldmaker base. Anyone have a good experiance with mainland China or Korea/

Several shops in the Chicago area tried this and were disappointed by the quality of the tools. If you don't mind fixing the mistakes go to China.

How about souring mold from Singapore & Malaysian?

I am an Americam mold maker from the East Coast US located in China for now 15 years.
I have been active in building and taining numerous factories in China and Indonesia but mainly in China and Hong Kong.

I hear all the horror stories and those are because all the same guys that talk about that want to go around the back doors and ask for things they really don't want and start relations with companies that only make the promises of "yes" to everything but can't deliver.

If you have any inquiries that I can help you with then please advise, there are not many other companies in this area with more experience in China Mold and Tooling and products manufacturing.

If you're on the east coast then we're 12 hours ahead and from the west coast then it's 15 hours.

My factory is in China and we do nothing but build molds and run production. No garage sales or copy watches or other distractions, only American and European quality mold making with the exact standards as you specify and request and the delivery schedules on time.

I make the tools and commission them to nothing less than a hang and run situation in your shop so that all you have to do is prep your machine and run the tool, no muss no fuss and weeks of headaches.

I have 35 years in as a mold maker and have never made a bad mold for anyone, I came out of the COnnecticut tool shops and ethics of work has been transferred to here and continues. I also have a shop in the US and am able to service your needs in anyway you see fit whether through the US or only direct here in Asia involvement.

I offer Asian competitive pricing and nothing but top quality, however I don't want to be the same "bad Asian shop" that everyone talks about and I will not even offer low quality steel replacements or just plain trash quality short-cut method work because then it all goes around back to the bad guy issues.

The original inquiry stated "I need to establish an Asia mold maker base" and then asked about sources in mainland China and Korea.

China and Korea may be too large of a leap for someone just beginning. One may want to first look towards Singapore as an initial basepoint. Western laws, high end practices, and english speaking contacts throughout the organizations you will be working with, make this US ally a great hub location. Then, many Singaporean companies have subsidiaries in other parts of Asia, saving you the development time.

There are many world class moldmakers throughout Asia that can do the job for you. However, good advice would be not to get greedy or hasty, not to lower your standards and specifications, and instead develop strong relationships firsthand.

Then when that is all taken into account, your current local moldbuilder may start to look better!

Depending on the amount of tooling you need and the amount of resources and time you are preparing to dedicate, look before you leap.
