Ratio of quotes quoted Per Purchase Orders received

I am a Sales Representative for an AMBA member and wonder if there is an industry standard or rule of thumb ratio for the number of quotes per Purchase order received?

That is one of the most discouraging parts of quoting. The P.O. to quote ratio can make you want to stop quoting but the bottom line is you must quote first to get the P.O. My experience is about 15:1.

I have never seen a survey that established an industry average.
