Hi,
I'm still researching the 15th Marines and especially the 3rd Battalion. I beleive the guys were 105mm Howitzer crew men. Can amny one give me some information on the 15th Marines and what they did on Okinawa? I'd appreciate any information that you can provide me. My e-mail address is: rrstudios@comcast.net
Would be very interested in whatever you can find. My father was in that unit. Laura Lacey's book was really helpful. Sgt Sams who is heavily quoted was in 3/15th as well.
My dad passed back in 1984. Feel free to PM me as you find more and I'd be glad to do the same.
My Uncle Robert Miller served in the USMC from December 1942-December 1945. He kept a small daily diary. Which my aunt gave to me before she died.. Uncle Bob had passed away some several years before and never mentioned the diary, and only rarely the war.Armed with this "live" documentation, I created a
lengthy journal of old phptos, maps, and great internet information of his Marine life.I have pretty much confirmed that Uncle Bob was in the 15th Marine Artillery regiment during the invasion of Okinawa.
please let me know if I can be of any assistance
