3rd Battalion, 15th Marines, Pvt. Donald C. Rudat - Needed Information

I am looking for any information regarding the 3rd Battalion, 15th Marines. Can anyone give me a lead to any fellas who were in the unit or a history of the 15th and how they were formed and from what units. My Dad was with the 15th and I would like to know what he was doing in the South Pacific, Dad passed away 5 years ago. Thanks! Semper Fi!
