Im here to help clear up some information on that Japnese plane that landed after the the capture of Yontan. The plane was a KI-61 (swallow) On page "Contributed by 1st Sgt. Scott M. Smith" stated that the plane was riddled with bullets BUT Thier was alot of trigger happy Marines but only one shot hit the aircraft and that was in the radiator.This aircreaft was the only inline water cooled High altitude aircraftJapan had. How do I know? my father was there and has the watch that was on straped to the pilots leg. The plane was painted Blue with the US insign and on the tail was the USMC insigna
