Re: Unit Marked Fatigues

I served as a machine gunner with Ico3rdBn22ndMarines. Hit beach first wave, Okinawa 1 April 1945, wounded Sugar Loaf Hill 21 May 1945. I have never seen nor used any decoration on our fatiges. Semper Fi, Joe

Re: Re: Unit Marked Fatigues

My Daddy also hit the beach, first wave that same day. I was 7 yrs old when he was discharged 3/46. I will never forget his voice and the look in his eyes when he related that experience to us. He also was 22nd Marines and 6th Div. I think of Daddy coming off that amphibian and onto that beach every day of my life and I know it was for me that he was able to get through it. That thought has given me strength many times in my life.
My Dad was Pfc Carmie H Rhoney 993557. Thank you for your part as well. I have never talked to anyone else in that "first wave" before and I am touched. I have a collection of Daddy's patches and there are no red circles amongst them. Ieda Rhoney Lowder
