Corporal Milo Jerry Loveless

I'm just starting out on this, so I am hopeful someone can point me in the right direction. My deceased Father-in-Law, Corporal Milo Jerry Loveless served in Company G, 2nd BN, 22nd MAR in the First Provisional Marine Brigade during the assault and liberation of Guam, and later in Co G, 2nd Bn, 22nd MAR in the Sixth Marine Division during the assault and liberation of Okinawa. He was WIA and transferred to "Casual Bn, Transient Ctr., Forward Echelon on either 15 or 19 May 1943. How can I find out the specific date he was wounded and in what action? He was rated as a Heavy Machine Gunner (604), but don't know if he carried this weapon (BMG 1917A1) on Okinawa. Can anyone give me advice on where to look to get more info.
