Anyone know PFC Donald Bauer?

Hello-

I am trying to find out more information about my uncle, Donald Bauer from Cincinnati, who fought and died with the 22nd Marines, Sixth Division.

I would love to find someone who remembers him.

Donald joined the Marines on Jan. 5, 1943, at Parris Island. His
commander there was E.P. Moses. He transferred to Fleet River, N.C., on
March 16, 1943, and he went to the 33rd replacement Tent City in New
River, N.C., on Oct. 3, 1943.

On Jan. 1, 1944, he joined the 22nd Marines, 1st Battalion, C Company? On Feb.
18, 1944, he was promoted to private first class.

The first time he came under fire was July 21, 1944, at Guam. He was
injured on July 23, 1944, and received the Purple Heart on Aug. 29,
1944. He was killed June 8, 1945, in southern Okinawa. He was
originally
buried in the Sixth Marine Division Cemetery on Okinawa before being
moved to the Punchbowl Cemetery in Hawaii.

I would love to find someone who served with him and remembers him.

Don's brother, my father, idolized his big brother. My dad was 11 when
Don went off to war. I am putting information together to give to my
dad
about Donald as a surprise.

Thanks,

Scott
