SGT MAJOR JOHN 'SKI' KALINOWSKI

On the evening of Dec. 19th this great Marine passed on to guard heavens gates. As a Sgt. Major I am sure he would be in charge of the guard detail.
Ski, as all called him, served with Weapons Comapny, 29th Marines. He entered the Corps as a 17 year old and went on to serve some 32 years. He holds two Navy Crosses, 2 Bronze stars with combat V, and 7 Purple Hearts. I knew Ski from '43 and served with him on Okinawa. We never lost touch over the years. We both were born, same day, same month, same year.
Those that knew him held him in high esteem and honor.
He asked to be interred at the Beiurt Memorial site at Camp Lejune, NC.
