Obituary - Robert Kennedy

Robert Kennedy




CLIFTON PARK - Mr. Robert D. Kennedy, 76, of Hollandale Apartments, Clifton Park died Thursday May 16, 2002 at his residence after a short illness.


Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Daniel J. and Rita Hebert Kennedy. Bob was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII serving in the 6th Marine Division from 1943 to 1946 where he participated in the invasion of Guam and Okinowa. He was awarded the purple heart for wounds he suffered on Okinowa.


Bob spent the next two months in China until the Japanese surrendered. Upon arriving home in early 1946, he went back to high school to receive his diploma. He attended Champlain College in Plattsburgh. Bob went to work for Western Electric and was employed by G.E. in Schenectady for 14 years as a crane repairman, then he was employed by the New York State Dept. of Labor as an associate factory inspector, and he retired in 1988 from the U.S. Goverment as a inspector for O.S.H.A.


Bob is survived by his wife Rita M. Kennedy, a son Richard J. Kennedy, and two grandchildren Eric Robert Kennedy and Gabrielle R. Kennedy. He was predeceased by a son Michael Robert Kennedy and his two brothers Francis and Jack Kennedy.


Bob is also survived by his two sister in laws Audrey and Janice Kennedy and several nieces, nephews and cousins.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Monday morning at 11:30am at the Chapel in Memory's Garden Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 5pm at the STANTON-FARRELL Funeral Home 326 Colombia St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 in memory of Bob would be appreciated.
