No shirts for men

I have been following the podcast "Naked, Nudist, & Naturist" since it began about an year ago.

Recently a listener raised on interesting point.

A first part if the process of making public nudity more acceptable might be to bring back the tradition of men dispensing with shirts when not needed.

A generation or two ago it was not unusual to see shirtless men doing physical labor on hot days. That tradition has been lost.

I have taken up the habit of skipping a shirt while mowing and doing other work in my yard.

I also drive to my club some two hours away with a T shirt on the car seat. It is usually still there clean when I arrive home.

Shoes, too -- shoes!
I got a reply from the Missouri Department of Health in '17 that the Department does not require shoes in restaurants, stores, etc, but that individual establishments set their own rules.
Every chance I get, I go barefooted, but wearing shoes is an unwritten rule, and if you break an unwritten rule, you can be charged with a crime.
One could even be made up on the spot: disorderly conduct, (if you create an argument) disturbing the peace, even disobeying one of their own private unwritten rules: "It's our policy here . . ."
It becomes way easier to comply and even admit blame, which does not facilitate the possibility of casual dress codes.
Go ahead and go shirtless. Just don't let anybody see ya.

Re: No shirts for men

You are right. Nudity is more prevent in Europe where their is more to0less freedom for both women and men. When I was growing up I was shirtless around the house and neighborhood like my dad. Recently in Colorado springs my wife and her friend sat on front porch topless just their husband's. It turns out women can be topless like men in Colorado

Re: No shirts for men

I regularly run (training for 5k races) at my local city park shirtless and barefoot. I've been doing this for years, and most of the time I'm the only one shirtless there, but occasionally there are others, especially on hot days. There seems to be slightly more opting to go shirtless in the last couple years, but it is still the vast minority.

Re: No shirts for men

I only wear a shirt when I really have to. Sometimes it can be for days when I do not. As for walking barefooted, my habit is to be barefooted from April until October. Where I live, when some people see me with shoes they ask what has happened.
