Aamir Atlas Khan

I read on the worldsquash website that this lad is only 14 years old - and according to the draw he just lost Adrian Grant in 5 who is ranked 15 in the world - can anyone confirm this? If this is true why isn't more noise been made about him?

Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

Amir atlas reached the semi finals of the world juniors in islamabad in august at the age of 14. Whether or not he is 14 debatable though.

Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

It seems every six month some new young sensation from Pakistan emerges and beats some top ranked player. But then we never hear of them after that?!

Re: Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

I find incredibly difficult to believe that a 14 year old would take the world number 15 to 5 games. Surely he's older than that?

Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

It's true - Aamir is 14, born on 30 July 1990. Check out a great piece on him in today's News International in Pakistan "Aamir Atlas - the newest sensation on Pakistan squash horizon".

Re: Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

you guys have to understand adrians style of play. I wouldn't look into it to much and when he needed to he won the last couple quite easily

Re: Re: Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

There is no way he is really 14. He could not be physically strong enough to compete with any top 100 players let alone top 20. I know it says he is 14 on his birth certificate but he probably wrote it himself!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

Yes well let's not forget Jahhangir Khan who when aged 15 won the defunct World Amatuer Championships beating the highly regarded Philip Kenyon who was expected to win it easily.

Generally without appearing to sound racist, it is acknowledged that most asian and african people mature earlier than western people do!

Question is if Jahangir was able to beat a senior player aged 15, why not another player in this day and age?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

Pakistanis aren't Asian or African, they are Caucasian!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

But Jahangir winning at '15' may explain an early retirement. He may have been 3 or 4 years older than he said.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

Indeed. Apparently, falsifying dates of birth has been commonplace among Pakistani cricketers for a long time.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

Paki's are asian, that's why they are a part of the asian games. You Idiot.

Vinnie, go back to your coloring book.

Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

is there a picture of him for us to judge ourself?

Re: Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

Yes, we've added a photo of him to the Aamir page ...

Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

He doesn't look 14...

Re: Re: Aamir Atlas Khan

Well, I talked to a Pakistani PSA player on the weekend and he told me that Aamir used to play juniors the same time he did and was at most 2 years younger than him. Then he wasn't seen for a while and is back to playing junior squash. The guy who told me this is 21 himself. I was always hesitant with people moaning about Pakistanis having false birth certificates, but when Pakisatanis tell you yourself it sounds quite convincing. So this guy Aamir is probably 19 at least.
