Old hand seeking new info

I am a league squash player (North Wales) and although I "should" know better being in a new country has its challenges i.e. choosing an appropriate racket.

I am from South Africa and did not have difficulty selecting a racket from a quite substantial variety at the various sport shops in the city that I am from. Choices were made easy as you had the opportunity to speak to a knowledgeable specialist at the shop and in the case of two shops even had the opportunity to use demo models overnight or on site to help get the feel for the right one.

However, where I live now only has a JJB and a few fashion sport shops and their choice is almost as good as the BBC programme choices.

I have used a variety of rackets in my 10 years of League squash [grays, pro kennex, slazenger, dunlop and even a store brand (my 2nd favourite ever)] and I do prefer a racket with feel. My game is a very good mixture between very powerful and the drop/volley game. I don't like very light rackets, but also do not like a head heavy one.

My favourite racket broke on Tuesday night and I am left with a Dunlop Pro 3d Revelation Ti which is the most expensive racket I have ever owned and also the least enjoyable.

The amount of effort that I have to put in to generate a fast game is enormous and the "touches" are unresponsive. I have tried various types of strings, but always went for an average tension.

I have decided to return to my most enjoyable brand, Slazenger, and am thinking of either the Titanium 150 or the Carbon 140. Any advice?

I am also considering a Wilson Hammer 140+, but do not know enough about this brand.

Questions for those who know better:

1. Comments on Titanium vs. Carbon composites.
2. Power and touch rackets that does not cost a trip to Lunar. Be open minded.
3. Thoughts on Slaz and Wilson, but also vs. one another.
4. I want something with good sweet spot, power and control.

Any Samaritans out there?

Merry, Merry to all.
