my great uncle leonard hartley ,lost his life 66 years ago today.i hope stan mayes reads this post 25/08/1942 uboat off the coast of freetown.stan is a great old guy,he may well be the last survivor alive today.he gave my family more information than blue star gave his own mother and father.he was from seaforth my uncle i followed in his footsteps years later and had a sea carreer of my own.R.I.P.leonard along with all the other merchant seamen who gave the ultimate my prayers are always with you.have wrote you stan good health mate terry.
