The " Seamans Home, Canning Place, Liverpool

Hello all,
Iam hoping that someone could possibly help or guide me in the right direction.
My Dads side of the family originate from Liverpool. I have just recieved a copy of my Grandads Marriage cert and it states that he was a Merchant Seaman, which I already knew, haowever it gives his place of residence as The " Sailors Home, Canning Place, Liverpool
I understand that the building was demolished many years back by the Liverpool council. I am trying to find out whether there are any records held from the home amywhere and or any place I could get photos or other details about the place, I have been told that it was a beautiful old building.
Also I have found out that my Great Grandfather was a Merchant Seaman.
the date of the Marriage cert is 1932
Many thanks in advance for your help
Best wishes to all

Tony Quinn
