We are so happy this year to be doing at least one "green thing" each month. On a good month we do two or three!
Last month we opened the swimming pool and converted it from chlorine and bromide to much healthier and enviro-friendly, hydrogen peroxide. I will post a link later here with more info on this subject
This month we purchased an old-fashioned clothes dryer for the yard. The days are so dry here that an average load of wash will dry in less than an hour!
I have some great links here so please check them out: On http://www.csgnetwork.com/elecenergycalcs.html I discovered that:
if I wash 15 loads of wash a month and dry them outdoors I save only $3.80. a month in electric bill charges.
However, over the course of the year, I save 557 kWh of energy. AND prevent 720 lbs of greenhouse gas (CO2), 4lb of sulfur dioxide (SO2), 2lb Nitrogen Oxide, and 7 milligrams of mercury (Hg) from entering the air, as our electric is provided from coal. I found this info at: http://www.cleanerandgreener.org/resources/pollutioncalculator.htm
I hope you check these sites out. I feel so good I had to tell ya'll.
