I received a call from a customer who has been with us for years requesting special pictures for an item that appears on traincity.com. Unfortunately we don’t have pictures on that site but everything is graded. I personally grade 90% of the items that appear on all sites except for ebay. I’ve been doing this now for some 35 years and try my best to grade as conservatively as possible. My thinking has always been that if you are happy you will purchase more from us. We like happy customers!

We do receive returns but most of those returns are due to operation rather than grading. But certainly if I screw up (which does happen occasionally), we will take the item back as a return.

OK back to my point. I told our customer who had called that we can’t send pictures because if we did it for one, we would have to do it for everyone and if that happened possibly we would have to hire someone just to take random pictures." I don’t think he was real happy with my answer but it is reality."

$79.00 Charles prices are so low and usually spot on and usually better than expected being a long time customer I can tell you that's the truth .. But I did maybe twice return a item because of grading.
I would like to have one but the reason for my call is because after seeing many on Ebay some decals crack bad body not bad . And honestly I would take it once I saw it but if it was questionable I would rather wait till he or I find the "one" I wanted

I know Charles will or would of let me return it no questions I was just trying to save me a return postage on my end . and his and my time..



Just for the record I thought his phone explanation was acceptable I only responded because of his article about the matter..

If I had only thing to add I would say this...

The easiest answer should of been "hey I have three on the shelf ..How about If I put one of choochooautions"

I will wait to see if its on ..

Me mad at you? Heck no. You are a great guy. We've been doing business for a long time. I don't know how I could ever be mad at you!!!

And I am sorry if I came off that way. Possibly was a bad day for me. Sometimes you I don't feel so good at my ripe old age.

At any rate the reason I didn't agree to put the caboose on the auction site was because my software told me there was one on auction. And I checked this morning and there is not only no 6657 on auction, but I thought maybe the software was wrong. It isn't I couldn't find one anywhere in the auction section of our warehouse.

This happens from time to time where something is sold and doesn't exit the inventory program for some reason. Then I end up with a gazilion items in the store section which should have passed on to the auction section. (By the way don't ever say passed on to an old person. Freaks them out. Sorry guys!! :)

So tomorrow you will see one of the three we have in stock in our auction section. Truthfully we might have had a VG+ at some point but I wouldn't grade any of these higher than VG.

At any rate, sorry for the misunderstanding. Go Steelers!!!!!

This is why Charles is the nicest best Person to "deal" with . I completely understand ! I been in the car repair bossiness and when you treat and talk to your customers as Charles did you sort of want to "only " deal with The "Man"

Doing business goes both ways.... nice to be nice and nice to have nice...
