I'm not sure if I have bad books or you gave the wrong numbers as I can only find 2 of your items. Please supply more info.
According to the Standard Catalog of Lionel Trains 1945-1969 (2nd edition) your 1956 set should have the following: #520 box cab electric motor; 6014 red box car; 6012 black gondola and a 6017 caboose. Lionel called this a "Three Car Freight" set. O27 sets included: a transformer (probably a #1043 with your set), 12-16 sections of O27 track (8 curved and 4 or 8 straight), a CTC lockon and two coiled wires to connect the transformer to the track via the lockon. There should also be a booklet on operating Lionel trains.
From your description, however, it seems you have parts of a #1542 set. The 6111 flat car is not properly a part of the set, it was a separate purchase. That car came either with three wooden logs or three gray plastic pipes.
Using any good price guide such as The Standard Catalog I mentioned, or Greenberg's or TM's guide books you can determine values for the various items in your set box. That box has value, and the motor and three cars came with individual boxes, as the 6111 would have come. Each individual item box also has some value. Each will also tell you how to grade your motor or cars.
Hi Randy. My old 1991 Greenberg sets book calls the 1542 set the bottom of the bottom-line sets. Probably has a 1015 transformer.
