The site has gone up and down several times today. I was trying to decide what to bid on two different items tonight but was unable to bid because of the server being suddenly unavailable. I imagine it is frustrating for all but these interruptions do sometimes happen.
By looking at several other online auction sites, I think the auction site simply extends the auction time when the server is unavailable at the expected time of auction close.
