Does it still suck? I purchased the Conrail Service Station set, with the stamp-out 6464 box cars, and the quality was poor. Couplers didn't stay closed on 2 of the cars and the engin could pull a kinfe out of butter. This was right before they started letting the Chinese build everything. Are the Chinese any better at building toy trains than the people in Mt Clemmons or wherever?

The Lionel quality has improved. Not because I believe Lionel had a want to improve they were forced by competition. MTH still leaves Lionel in the dust. The detail is much better.I have some older 70's 80's lionel and it was poor.
