whistle

I was looking over a lionel 736 and a 2056 and noticed the 2056 doesn't have a whistle, the shell looks the same (different reverser), the 2056 has the mounting base for a whistle in the casting. and on the 736 there are two different types one at 90deg and one at 45? did putting a whistle on cost more ? Should I put whistles on my 2056's and 2046's should I use 45 deg or 90deg. and the trains go round and round and round and round...................

Re: whistle

Hello Wayne ! The 2046 and 2056 Engines did not Have a Whistle. The 726 & 736 Berkshires had whistles on their castings. It was a economic decision for lionel in those days which is also why the berks had a swinging bell and the 2046/56 did not have those either.A Whistle can be added by drilling a hole for the whistle to fit and you're in business or you can leave it as is.Either way enjoy your Trains.....Keith
