Re: Construct 2.5: The Crusades

The Crusades was good for the Muslims and very bad for the Christians. The Muslim leader, Saladin were after the conquest of Jerusualem and to spread the Islamic religion through Europe. Christians were slaughtered(literaly) and in response were just trying to get Jerusualem back because it was the the holy city. Muslims had the skills and pride to they needed to be successful at conquering and were not going to except anything, but Islam. Christians were now basically just trying to defend themselves, thus bringing the Franks. Franks outsmarted they way the Crusaders had fought, ending the wars between them.

The last dynasty

The Last Dynasty

The quing dynasty was the second time, when china was ruled by foreigners the manchu. The quing dynasty lasted 1644-1911 a.d.The reigns of the first three emperors were a time of peace and prosperity in china. They did not allow intermarriage amaong the chinese continued to speak ,their own language and did not make their documents available to the Chinese. They needed to dress a certain way and look a certain way too.For example the chinese men needed to shave their head bald and wear queues and the ladies needed to wear Manchu clothes. The impact of the west was also felt for the first time in China. Great Britain especially was interested in trading with China for silk and tea. However, the British did not have anything that was easy to import to China until they began importing opium.Opium is a drug thats addictive. This was devastating to China. Many became addicted to opium, and land that had previously been used for food began to be used to produce opium.(the less land the less food they had and people from china were hungry.) Also, a large amount of Chinese money left the country in payment for the opium. They lost a big amount of money to the british which put them in a bad position since they had no more land to produce food and they had no money to trade goods. Finally, in 1839 A.D. the opium trade ended. This set off a war with Great Britain that came to be known as the Opium Wars, and in 1842 A.D., China was forced to sign a treaty in which Great Britain received Hong Kong, and ports were opened to European trade. The terms of this treaty were not fully carried out by either side, and in 1857 A.D., fighting again broke out. The British again won and the Chinese were forced to grant more privileges to the British, that virtually turned China into a British colony.

Re: Construct 2.5: The Crusades

Pope Urban II launched the first Crusade after the Byzantine Empire sent a letter of plea. The Muslims had taken over Jerusalem and the Holy Land and were going to take over the Byzantine Empire.
From the perspective of the Christians, the Crusades were holy wars in which they were going recapture the holy land and Jerusalem and stop the Muslims from taking over the Byzantine Empire. This was also their time to put their life in jeopardy for their beloved religion. The Pope said that if they scarificed themselves in the Holy War, then thier sins would be forgiven. Peasants were also part of the Crusades and saw this as a way of escaping paying taxes to vassals (and the vassals did not like it). The main view the Christians had was that they were going to fight for the regaining of the Holy Land and Holy City.
The view the Muslims had on the Crusades were different. The Muslims looked at the Crusaders as people who were stopping them from taking over the Byzantine Empire. The Muslims had a general named Saladin, and he was a very skilled general. This made it easier for the Muslims to conquer the empire. Seljuk Turks were there for two main purposes: 1) to take over the Byzantine Empire, Jerusalem and the Holy Land. 2) To convert as many Christians as possible

Re: Construct 2.5: The Crusades

The Crusades affected the Christians and the Muslims in good and in many bad ways. The only good thing was for the religion that got control of Jerusalem. The most effective cause was the number of deaths in both the Christians and the Muslims. The Christian were basiclly fighting for Jerusalem and for defending Europe from the Muslims. Although the Muslims were larger and stronger than the Christians, the Christian put a huge effort because of their brilliant minds and their strategies.(For example, the Franks put up a great battle on the Muslims.) Islam's biggest goals were to kill all the Christians, take over Europe, and take control of Jerusalem. I think that the both groups lost more than they gained because of the number of casualties and deaths, which affected the Christians and Muslims in their population and militaristic structures.

Re: Construct 2.5: The Crusades

Well the crusades were launched from two different aspects the Christians had one that was based more on religion and the Muslims just take conquer land.
In the perspective of the Christians the crusades were launched from the demand of Pope Urban 2 he at first got a letter for support to defend the Byzantine Empire and to defend the holy land. The Muslims were on their way to take over the Byzantine Empire. The Christians send out the crusades because the Muslims had taken over Jerusalem and they were onto the Byzantine Empire (holy land) they did this because of religion than any other thing. If they would've lost then it have brought to them a failure of god and sins. so they defended it mainly for their religion.
In the perspective of the Muslims they wanted it to gain land and control. They had a bit of an advantage for having Saladin a great leader. The Muslims mainly wanted it to basically gain more land and two to convert them to their religion. The Muslims weren’t fighting for the land for a greater reason than the Christians.

Re: Construct 2.5: The Crusades

The Crusades people were good for the Muslims but at the same time they were bad for the Christians. Saladin was trying to get Jerusalem and conquer it to have the Muslim religion bigger and bigger. A lot of Christians were killed and beat to death just because of the Muslims trying to take over the city of Jerusalem just because it was the holy city and they didn’t want the Christians having control of it. All the Muslims had in mind was that their religion would spread all over the world especially Europe. Christians were just glad they got help from the Franks that stopped Saladin and his army from getting to Jerusalem. Even though the Muslims out massed the Franks the Franks won.
