Cloyd's Mountain! This weekend 4-28 thru 4-29

Good morning, 28th NCT!

Our Fort Tour 2012 is now behind us! They were both unforgettable!

But now, we must rise up to meet another serious threat. The enemy is now approaching the lines held by our very good friends in the 24th VA Infantry. They must have our support to meet this threat. We are concentrating our forces in the area of Dublin, VA.

I know many of you have not been able to meet the challenge of the long marches to Ft Pulaski and Ft Macon. But Cloyd's Mtn is close to home by comparison. Please do everything you can to help support YOUR unit and our friends in the Gallant 24th VA. Without their support, we could not have successfully defended Rockford back in March.

Here is information and an address for the event:

2012 Reenactment of the Battle of Cloyd’s Mountain

On Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29, The 24th Virginia Infantry New River Rifles, Rockwood Manor, 1st Stuart Horse Artillery and Pulaski County Civil War Sesquicentennial are partnering again to host a reenactment of the Battle of Cloyd’s Mountain. This year marks the 148th Anniversary of the battle, which occurred on May 9, 1864. The reenactment will take place at Rockwood Manor, located at 5189 Rockwood Road, Dublin, Virginia just off VA-100 N/Cleburne Blvd.

Folks, this is only around an hour away for most of us. Rockwood Manor is a beautiful place. It's a "laid back" event, no long marches here! Rex and Bonnie will be there!

Lt Cheek and I are talking about coming in early Saturday morning and staying through the weekend to lead you to the best of our ability. We are asked to bring both uniforms but it is almost certain that we will be fighting Confederate all weekend. Our own Sergeant Brian Henderson has been asked to serve as Confederate Sergeant-Major. Lt Cheek stands ready to prepare us a Saturday night meal, if you'd like.

Please respond to this post or contact Lt Cheek NOW to let him know that you can be there to support YOUR unit and whether you'd like to participate in the Saturday night meal.

Thank you, in advance, for your support of the MIGHTY 28TH!!!
