28th NCT Annual Meeting 01-28-12

Greetings members of the 28th NCT!

I hope that you all had a great Christmas and are having a wonderful start to 2012!

I'm praying for good health and looking forward to attending more events than last year, God willing!

It has been a while since my last communication to you, but wanted to remind you of two VERY IMPORTANT upcoming events:

Although, we have not voted officially on this yet, many in the unit have already expressed great interest in attending "Maryland, My Maryland",

which is 150th Anniversary Reenactment of the Battles of South Mountain and Sharpsburg, September 8-9, 2012.

It will be awesome, without any doubt, if it is anything like September Storm was in 2007. What can I say, Lori?!!!

Anyway, registration is already open and will be limited to 2400 Federal and 1800 Confederate, with NO WALKONS.

The ANV has been allotted 600 Confederate slots, which will be available on a first come, first served basis. This will most likely fill up by the end of February.

Several folks in our unit have played it safe and already registered individually. You can either register and pay ($20) on your own via the website.

http://www.marylandcampaign150.org/Reenactment.html or http://www.marylandmymaryland.org

If you choose to register individually, please be sure to specificy the 28th NC and 4th Reg. ANV as your unit and affiliation.

... Or I can still send in a group registration for those that wish. If you are interested in doing that, please send me your $20 registration fee

or pay me at the upcoming meeting on January 28th. I plan to send in the group registration on Monday January 30th. After that you will be on your own to register for the event.

Also, please don't forget about our Annual Meeting on January 28th at the Windsor Crossroads Community Center, in Hamptonville, Yadkin County, NC.

We will start the day with breakfast at 8:00 am and the meeting will start promtly at 9:00am.

Please plan to attend this important meeting. We will need to collect dues and insurance for 2012 as well.

28th NC dues are still $15 per individual or $20 per family. ANV insurance is still $10 per adult and $3 for child under 12. Battalion dues are $3 per soldier.

Please note the agenda as follows:

8:00-9:00 Breakfast

9:00-10:15 Opening, summary of 2011, and other business

10:15-10:30 Break

10:30-noon Elect board of directors and officers for 2012

noon-1:00 Lunch (Miss Lori's special chili)

1:00-2:30 Vote on 2012 events (see the attached list of proposed events)

Directions to Windsor Crossroads Community Center:
From Winston-Salem, take US 421 North past Yadkinville and then just past I-77. Then take the Windsor Road Exit (first exit after I-77).

At the top of the exit ramp take a left on Windsor Road. Go about 5 miles, and the community center will be on the right at the intersection of Buck Shoals Road.

It is a large square building with a red roof and steeple.

From Charlotte, go north on I-77. Take the US 421 Exit (#73B) and go towards Boone.

Then almost immediately take the Windsor Road Exit. At the top of the exit ramp take a left on Windsor Road.

Go about 5 miles, and the community center will be on the right at the intersection of Buck Shoals Road.

It is a large square building with a red roof and steeple.

Note that we have not scheduled a drill as part of the meeting this year in order to save time finish business earlier than we have in the past.

Please feel free to dress out however, if you prefer. Nothing like putting on the gray for a special occasion!

To the Old North State! ... FOREVER!

Your Fight'n Adj.

Corporal Tony Hine, do you think you can pull your pancake cooking squad together for the breakfast?
