Can anyone help me with this? While helping my elderly mother clean out closets, we came across items that had belonged to my late father. One of these items is a Japanese flag, signed by the men in my fathers unit that included their home state/address. There also was a photo that shows the men in my father’s unit holding the flag. Under my father’s signature it says “Sgt George Janiga 2nd Marine Div”. My father served in Guadalcanal during this time. My question is, can I find out if any of his fellow marines are still alive?
