Well, ya know how I said that I left my book at school? As it turns out, it's not like I had time to write anything in it this weekend anyhow, so it all worked out!
And don't worry, I emotionally react to stuff I write, too. And if it is a sign of being lonely, I guess we both need boyfriends, lol (Like a much-loved character once said, "You need to find yourself a 'guy,' mate." Paraphrased for obvious reasons . . . ). In one story I wrote a long time ago, I killed off one of my characters and I was like, "I can't believe I just did that! I'm such a jerk!" I was getting all teary-eyed and I walked around the house in a daze for a little while. Mom thought I was weird, but gosh, when you CREATE this characters, give them their own looks, personality, etc., you get to know them and you get kinda attached to 'em. It's SAD when they leave.
Oh gosh, I've officially lost my mind.
But you're a writer, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, lol
Concept art is basically the building blocks of sets in movies and plays and stuff. An artist picks up a sketch pad (usually a very big one, like a newsprint pad, so they'll have plenty of room to design), and the director explains to them what needs to be drawn. For example, Peter Jackson took John Howard and Alan Lee (Howard and Lee were the concept artists for LotR) out to a hilly farmland. Peter Jackson set them down on top of one of the hills and said, "Using what you have in front of you, draw Hobbiton." And they sat there, sketching and adding things to the landscape to make it look like a hobbit countryside for several hours. After they've sketched several things, they show their designs to the director and the director chooses the one closest to his concept. They send the stuff off to the set designers and art departments and they make it into props, costumes, sets, etc. What I'm doing is basically the same thing, only A) it's not going to be in a movie, and B) I'm both the artist AND the director. I'm drawing pictures of what my characters look like (my friend Renee think Alexander's hot, lol), location concepts, and various prop concepts. It's so much fun!
Interesting idea . . . "So, I just killed 4 or 5 people, but at least I got a date and finished my book!" Hehe
Apparently I inspired the 2nd graders to dress like cowgirls from the Old West, 'cause most of 'em came in with cowgirl hats and boots on "Oldies Day." And they all had stick ponies, lol
Haven't seen Dumb and Dumberer yet, but I imagine it's moving. And Napolean Dynamite brought me to tears it was so inspiring (okay, the tears were because I was laughing so hard, but that's a secret . . . )
No, I don't have the link!! I looked everywhere for it but I couldn't find it. I'm sad now. I wanted to read it again, too. |
