Found a Sparrow hatchling!
When I first saw him outside while I was smoking at work I started to cry thinking he would die. I made him a fake nest with tissues in a little box. His mother has not come so I am going to take him home. I fed him tiny pieces of grape with a tweezer...I will go home and do the cat food thing. I also have an electric blanket. What are the chances this littlew tiny baby will survive? Everyone tells me to just leave him outside..but he is chirping and hungry. |

Liliana, His chances for survival are good if you follow the instructions from the website. Please see the emergency care guide and care and feeding instructions. The grapes were a good idea to keep him hydrated. Kudos to you for caring! Please keep us updated on his progress and feel free to ask any questions if you have concerns. Audra (site admin.) Hey, me too! I've had mine for about three weeks now and he is thriving. I found fruit gave him diarrhea, so we used the catfood supplemented with raw beef until we heard that wasn't so good for him. he is a real character - now that he has his feathers he is flying all over the house, landing on me every chance he gets, and occasionally hitching a ride on my Labrador! I didn't want to keep him at first but now I have become attached to the little guy, so I got him a cage (secondhand budgie cage) and he is now eating some seeds and eggyolk on his own, but still loves to be handfed by "mom." He has also started to sing as opposed to just chirping, and his song is really quite beautiful. I'm so glad we took him in - he would have died for sure if we didn't. We named him "Peep;" do you have a name for yours yet? |

I have a baby sparrow too! He is crippled from having his little foot like half bitten off by a cat! He only has the back toe left and the ball of his foot! He is doing really good even though he is crippled. Just has a bit of a problem with his landing. I named him Stuart Stumpy cause of his little stump leg. |

Samatha, would you like me to remove the sticky home needed post? Have you decided to keep the baby? So glad to hear everyone's babies are doing so well! Congrats on your fine jobs and keep up the good work! Hugs, Audra (site admin)
