Omega Alchemy - Sympathetic vibes

I have owned an Omega Alchemy for about three years now and am very happy with its performance. Only one problem I upgraded to a Reynolds Ouzo Pro carbon seat post - looks great until I hit c.35mph (downhill with the wind behind me!) and I get a really nasty groan - sounds like the back wheel is about to fall off! i have read somewhere about sympathetic vibes a la tacoma bridge - any views or help?

Re: Omega Alchemy - Sympathetic vibes

I have exactly the same seatpost on an Enigma Esprit and haven't had any problems at speeds between 35 and 40mph. Don't know if that helps!

Hi Ian

This is a weird one! so before changing the seat post everything was fine? Was the Reynolds seat post a loose fit?

Best regards

Re: Omega Alchemy - Sympathetic vibes

I went out for a ride on Monday with the original seatpost - downhill no noise so deduced it must have been the Reynolds. However I think it is a mgnificent piece of kit so want to persevere - what torque setting would you recommend, Mark and I will give that a go...

Re: Omega Alchemy - Sympathetic vibes

Hi Ian

the seat clamp should be 8-10 N/mm and the seat post bolts should be 8 N/mm

Hope that helps

Best Regards

Mark
