New Effusion

I have now become a full member of the Enigma Owners Club having traded in my five year old Omega Cyclone to replace it with a new Effusion frame and a Reynolds fork.

The service I received from Mark and Jim was first class as I called in 16:30 on Tuesday. The old bike was stripped down, components swapped over to the new frame and where necessary, replaced.

I am now looking forward to take this bike on a shakedown test this weekend (weather permitting) and I also have a 100-mile ride planned next Tuesday.

It that is left to discover is if this does live up to its reputation as being the Aston Martin DB9 of bikes!

Re: New Enigma Effort!

I took this bike out both on Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately it was very windy on Saturday so I could not fairly assess it. It was one of those days where you hit a wall of wind and almost come to a complete standstill, however nothing fell off the bike.

Yesterday was slightly better but after David’s experience, I still took it carefully on many of the descents, as there was still a lot of storm debris on the lanes.

Compared to the Omega Cyclone, this is still has a very comfortable ride, however it appears to be much better with climbing and it handles much better when cornering.

I have my first century ride planned on this bike tomorrow, but unfortunately the forecasted wind will be against me most of the way!

Re: New Effusion

Mark,

Originally I did not believe you when I said that I would really notice a significant difference in the performance of my old Omega Cyclone and the 08 Effusion, however I have just had my best ever audax performance on a lumpy 100k course last weekend beating the first two control times and arriving just after the last control opened!

The handling on this bike is just amazing and I don’t get dropped any longer on any of the hills in the same way that I did on my previous bike. The only complaint I have is that after 250 miles of use, I still haven’t found any use for granny ring on my triple!

I am also pleasantly surprised to find that although this frame is much stiffer, it has not lost any of that special ‘titanium, magic carpet feel’.

Your customer service is also impressive as you kindly stripped my down my old bike and built the new bike from most of my existing components in less than two hours. This was particularly impressive as you started this at 16:30.

As well as the audix/ sportive planned rides; I also have a couple of double century rides planned this summer.
