Crankset
Hi all, I am considering opoting for a compact crankset after many years of 42/52 and 39/53 cranksets. I am considering this as i am aiming to do the Fred Witton event and I think that this will give a better range of gears for the stiff pass climbs. I have never ridden a compact and would appreciate any feedback from anyone who has been converted. Comments appreciated

I just got a FSA Superlight with 38/52. Excellent. Comes with the ceramic bearings. A 36/50 is good or 34/50 if you are doing really steep stuff but you'll need an 11 on the back. Niall |

I don't know if you NEED an 11. 50x12 is only a little slightly lower than 53x12 and higher than 53x13. Having said that, I use my 53x12 quite a bit and sometimes spin out downhill. It all depends where you ride. |
