Sponsored Samaritans Cycle

On Sunday 24th July, Kate and Simon Braybrook will be cycling their tandem a total of 33 miles from England to Wales. This will form the final leg of a Five Nation Challenge cycle ride to help raise money and awareness of SAMARITANS, a volunteer run confidential listening service for those who have feelings of loneliness or suicide. If you would like to sponsor them, a sponsorship form will be at the back of the hall at dancing on Tuesday. Alternatively you can contact them either by e-mail (braybrooksp@cardiff.ac.uk) or phone (20 621903

Good work Simon! Will you have a form at the dance on Friday?

Re: Sponsored Samaritans Cycle

We'll certainly sponsor you.
But you could save some effort in this heat and just ride over the old River Wye bridge in Chepstow. A ride of about 200 yards, but still from England to Wales

Re: Sponsored Samaritans Cycle

Dear Chris, Elaine, Mark and Jackie plus anyone else who signed the sponsor form!

Kate and myself are so sorry we have to been to class to update you all on how the bike ride went. Unfortunately, with the summer break, gearing up for my medical elective in Rwanda (I leave for two months on the 14th) and a wedding this monday past, we have not been able to make it. I hope we will be there on tuesday for one more class before we go to africa.

Sadly, many people seemed to have been put off by the atrocious rain we had that saturday, but 17 of us cycled from Aust to Cardiff alongside the two fantastic guys who cycled over a thousand miles around the British Isles over the preceding week. We cycled the tanderm about 38 miles in just under 4 hours (we got a little lost around Newport) mostly with another couple on a tandem.

More details are still viewable on www.cyclethenation.org. For those of you who said they would sponsor us, please e-mail me. Those who did not but would like to give, please e-mail or go on to the cyclethenation site.

Thank you for your support. It means a great deal to the volunteers and users of the Samaritans service, 50 years old this year, who will continue to feel supported thanks to your generosity.

Simon and Kate

Re: Sponsored Samaritans Cycle

Hi Simon,

I tried the cycle the nation web site, but I could not get into it! Could you repeat it, so that I can sponsor you?

Thanks

Elaine
