Message:   Hello,

I am trying to find information regarding Short Stirling LJ850 that went missing on the night of June 17/18 1944. 15 members of 1 SAS were on board for a mission to resupply Operation Houndsworth in the Morvan region of France. My great uncle, Reginald Wortley, was one of those lost.

Three Stirlings of 620 squadron set out from RAF Fairford. They appear to have circled the drop zone but returned to base without having made the drop due to poor visibility. Two aircraft returned to Fairford, but LJ850 has never been seen since. Reports suggest it either hit low ground or crashed into the channel.

If anyone has any information regarding this flight, or if you are related to any of the missing crew or SAS members then I would be very grateful to hear from you.

Thanks,

Jonathan
